Emily Elwell grew up dancing in Marcy, New York at the Mohawk Valley Ballet, under the direction of Delia Foley, an official Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance, and Melissa Larish, a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance. Emily spent her summers training at the prestigious Boston Ballet, New York State Summer School of the Arts, The Rock School for Dance Education, and Ballet Arizona. She travelled to Eastern Europe in the summer of 2014, where she trained and performed in Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Emily graduated Cum Laude with her B.A. in Dance Pedagogy from Butler University in the spring of 2017. At Butler, she trained with influential teachers and choreographers such as Derek Reid, Patrick Hinson, Marek Cholewa, Susan McGuire, Cynthia Pratt, Michelle Jarvis and Stephan Laurent, among others. Upon graduation Emily was contracted to dance with the City Ballet of San Diego, under the direction of Steven and Elizabeth Wistrich, and is currently in her third season as a company member.
